DRECK
OLIVIA KAMER
ESSENCE
Everywhere is
rotting guava
Eyelids turn
transparent
for scent
molecules
contain colors
of a bruise
We cannot
sleep
until it
is located
eyes
un-shut
nostrils
twitching
doors
cloven
drawers
open
though you
have gone
somewhere entirely
unreachable
and I,
well I
have also
gone there
MY DISEASE
Every day I eat four oranges
and lie
My desires becoming impediments
on functioning
I think if I have a daughter
her name will have many Ls
The lulling of night does
not produce sleep
Everything is crooked with
the positions
of shadow and light inverted.
A burning lives between my legs
Nothing to do about that anymore
So let it burn!
Let the walls fall away from each other at
each corner
and wipe away the light as you would
a film of dust. Maybe Louise, maybe Tallula.
Hopefully she does not inherit
my disease.
Thank you for considering my work. My writing has been published with Recenter Press, Same Faces Collective, Spectra, Cult.Mag, and Dream Boy Book Club, among others.
